How This Seminar Works

This live seminar consists of one 105-minute, high quality conference call combined with your choice of printed or Internet-posted slides.

The day before the seminar, you will be emailed a toll-free telephone number to access the audio portion of the live seminar session. The seminar's slides will be attached to the email as a PDF file, and a Website link will be provided so you can view the slides on the Internet if you prefer. Phone calls originating from outside of the USA and Canada will be a toll call billed to you by your telephone service provider.

A few minutes before the seminar is to begin, you will call the toll-free phone number to access the audio portion of the seminar. You can follow the visual portion of the presentation by using the printed PDF files or by viewing the Internet-posted slides on your computer screen.

A professional moderator will manage the seminar teleconference and there will be ample opportunity to ask questions. All participants will hear both the question and the instructor's response. After the seminar is over, further questions can be directed to the instructor via email.

Your Instructors

Peter C. Fusaro is the best selling author of What Went Wrong at Enron and 13 other books. He is an energy industry thought leader noted for his keen insights in emerging energy and environmental issues. He is co-principal of the Energy Hedge Fund Center LLC which is an online research and consultancy focused on energy and environmental hedge funds (www.energyhedgefunds.com) based in New York. He is also CEO of Energy & Environment Capital Management LLC. Peter coined the term "Green Trading" and holds the annual Wall Street Green Trading Summit in New York each spring. He has been actively engaged in market-based solutions to global warming, clean technology, renewable energy and emissions trading since 1990. His most recent research has focused on water hedge funds. He graduated from Carnegie-Mellon and Tufts Universities.

David W. South, President of Technology & Market Solutions, LLC, devises innovative “solutions” for clients challenged by or looking to exploit the interface between technology (power/environmental), commodity/financial markets and regulatory requirements (energy, emissions, siting/permitting). He brings more than 30 years of power generation and emissions control technology and related market experience to his clients in the power generation, industrial, financial, technology development/manufacturing, and public sectors (trade association, research institutions, state/federal agencies).

His power generation technology expertise covers: coal, natural gas, nuclear power, distributed/on-site, cogeneration, and renewable energy (biomass, municipal and agricultural waste, landfill gas, geothermal, fuel cells, solar, and wind).  He is also well-versed on the spectrum of technologies and markets for—air pollution and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation and clean fuels production (ethanol, biodiesel, additives).  For these technologies and processes, Mr. South has experience examining: state of development; economic competitiveness; market niches; barriers-to-entry; market mechanisms & incentives; and the impact of market restructuring and environmental regulations on adoption and deployment patterns.  Mr. South is recognized for his work on a) emissions and renewable energy credit (REC) trading, b) monetizing clean air, greenhouse and environmental credits to facilitate project economics, c) multi-pollutant control and mitigation strategies, and d) quantifying and monetizing avoided (displaced) emissions.

Prior to founding Technology & Market Solutions, Mr. South was Vice President—Technology and Markets Group at Energy Resources International (2002-2005). From 1979 to 1995 Mr. South worked at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL; Chicago IL) where he was responsible for defining, managing and conducting policy research on Clean Air Act compliance, global climate change, emissions trading, electric power market issues, and technology deployment barriers/incentives.  He spent two years (1988-1989) on assignment at the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy where he conducted policy/market assessments and developed incentive mechanisms to accelerate deployment of Clean Coal Technologies.  Upon returning to ANL in 1990, Mr. South formed, and served as Senior Program Manager of the Technology and Environmental Policy Group until 1995.

This fundamental level, group live seminar has no prerequisites. No advance preparation is required before the seminar.

CPE Credits

This group live seminar is eligible for 2.0 CPE credits. PGS telephone seminars are eligible for CPE credits only if seminar participants use the printed seminar slides - not the Internet posted slides.Be aware that state boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. As of January 1, 2002, sponsored learning activities are measured by program length, with one 50-minute period equal to one CPE credit. One-half CPE credit increments (equal to 25 minutes) are permitted after the first credit has been earned in a given learning activity. You may want to verify that the state board from which your participants will be receiving credit accept one-half credits.
