1/ The above "Cost of Live Classroom Training" values assume on-site training costs of $250 per day per employee (including manuals and instructor hotel and travel expenses) and public seminar costs of $1,095 per day per employee (includes $500 per day for airfare, food and hotel).   Employees are assumed to attend three (2) days of training – 80% at on-site prices and 20% at public seminar prices.

Why Your Organization Needs Seminars-on-Demand

Natural Gas & Electricity Price Risk Still Needs to be Managed

Recent changes in the natural gas and electric power markets have fundamentally altered the type of employee knowledge needed for an organization to succeed. In this new environment, the difference between success and failure will be determined by how well employees throughout the entire enterprise understand deregulated energy markets and the proper management of commodity-related price risk.

Consider these facts:

  • Companies continue to be exposed to significant energy and electricity related price risk, and this risk needs to be managed.

  • Shareholders and credit rating agencies are severely punishing commodity-related earnings surprises.

  • A single uninformed decision can cost your firm millions in today's environment.

  • The collapse of the large energy marketers has created both new risks and new opportunities.

Despite the dollars at stake, many employees – including risk managers, sales personnel, traders, executives and auditors -- still do not adequately understand the critically important principles and terminology of forward energy markets, price risk management and hedging. This lack of understanding leads to errors in judgment and missed opportunities that can significantly impact your organization's income stream.

Comprehensive Enterprise-wide Learning

Until now, there has not been a solution to this widespread problem. Few organizations have had the time and resources required by traditional classroom approaches to educate the hundreds of employees who truly need this important knowledge.  Public seminars require significant travel costs and employee downtime, and on-site classroom training has always been difficult to schedule for large groups.

Seminars-on-Demand now makes it possible to distribute the critical knowledge of forward energy markets, price risk management and proper hedging techniques throughout your entire organization.

Seminars-on-Demand will:

  • Help your employees identify profitable business opportunities in a deregulated environment.

  • Assist your organization in the better management of natural gas and electricity price risk.

  • Improve your company's internal communications.

  • Reduce your organization's training costs.

Marketing & Sales Employees will learn the principles and terminology they need to understand and present sales proposals based on optionality and derivative structures.  This knowledge is critical for securing and retaining industrial, commercial and utility customers in today's competitive marketplace.

Accounting and Auditing Employees will better understand the logic behind many of the transactions they book and audit.  Time will be saved and mistakes will be identified before they can result in significant losses.

Traders & Energy Procurement Personnel can use Seminars-on-Demand to put together smarter deals, identify risks and reduce mistakes.  Losses occur because employees sometimes lack a basic understanding of risk management concepts and sound transaction-structuring principles.

Schedulers, Billing & Operations Staff often have difficulty understanding the transactions entered into by a firm's traders, marketers and buyers.  This widespread problem leads to wasted time, financial losses, billing errors and poor employee morale.

Rates and Planning Personnel will better understand ways to contribute to your organization's bottom line. Seminars-on-Demand will help these professionals develop creative rate and pricing designs to improve the value of your asset base.

Finance and Treasury Employees will acquire a better understanding of funding risk and how futures hedging impacts cash management.

Executive Management & Strategic Planning Staff can use the knowledge in Seminars-on-Demand to help maximize the financial return on your firm's transmission, storage, production and generation assets.

Risk Management Personnel can use Seminars-on-Demand to better identify and manage your company's risks.

Information Technology & Legal Staff will gain the knowledge they need to write software and agreements to support the enterprise in today's new environment.

Human Resource Employees will gain the knowledge required to better evaluate employment candidates, and training budget dollars will be saved by reducing the need for employees to attend costly public seminars.
